What are the safety procedures while at the lake?

Safety at the lake is our utmost concern. We have a strict set of rule that must be followed, disregarding these rules will result in a lose of lake privileges
  • Leaders must supervise their group and adhere to leader/participant ratios by performing frequent headcounts.
  • A lifeguard must be "on duty" before anyone is allowed to enter the water.
  • Everyone must stay within the set boundaries.
  • Everyone is allowed to go up to their belly buttons. If they pass the "swim challenge-test", they can go up to their shoulders.
  • Whistle signals:
  • 1 Blast-stand up and freeze-Leaders do a headcount and report to the lifeguard.
  • Many blasts-everyone out of the water and into groups. Leader do a headcount and report to the lifeguard.

What do I do if I need to pick up my child early?

Please notify your child's counselor at morning drop-off in order that your child will be ready for you at the desired time.

What happens if I am late picking up my child?

Pick-up time begins at 4:00pm (unless registered for post care). After 4:00 pm, your camper will automatically be enrolled in our post care program. At which time we will charge a late fee of $5 for every five minutes the child remains at camp.

    How are the groups assigned?

Groups are assigned by age. Each child will be in a group with others of the same age. What if my child wants to be in a group with his/her friends? We will make every effort to place children in groups with their friends if they are within the same age group. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to meet every request. Please encourage your child to enjoy the opportunity to make new friends and focus on the fun activities he/she will be participating in during the day.

Does the camp have a discipline plan?

Our programs are designed to ensure each child a safe and enjoyable experience. Mid-Sun Summer Day Camp embraces the numerous cultural and personal differences of campers and their families. Our staff actively promotes respect and appreciation for fellow campers and leaders. If you would like a copy of our discipline plan contact the Camp Director. If discipline is an issue Parents are encouraged to have a one-on-one meeting with the Camp Director.

    What about rainy days?

At Mid-Sun it never "rains on our parade" - but when it does rain, we know just what to do. Children move indoors or into sheltered areas and continue to have fun in suitable activities.
